Celebrating Our AGM and the Launch of Our Annual Report 2025/26

We recently welcomed members, partners, supporters and friends of Equality Action to Fearon Hall for our Annual General Meeting 2026, providing an opportunity to reflect on another busy year and share what has been achieved across the organisation.

The evening included the presentation of our Annual Report and Accounts, agreeing our revised Articles and Memorandum of Association, alongside updates on our work and plans for the future. We were pleased to be joined by our Chair, Vice-Chair and the Mayor, as well as staff, trustees, partners and members of our community.

Sharing Our Work

Our EmpowHER Project Officers shared an update on the project and its achievements over the past two years, including the different ways women and young people are being supported to build confidence, develop skills, improve wellbeing and become more involved in their communities.

The presentation also introduced InspireHer, a new part of EmpowHER focused on creating opportunities for young women to connect, explore their interests, build confidence and have a greater voice in shaping future activities.

We also enjoyed a selection of readings from our Trustee Abida Akram and were delighted to welcome Rita Hashmi as our guest speaker. Rita shared her personal journey of moving to the UK from Afghanistan and making Loughborough her home, including the challenges of starting again, rebuilding her professional career and the importance of having the right support and guidance along the way.

Our Annual Report & Accounts 2025/26

A key part of this year's AGM was the presentation of our new Annual Report and Accounts 2025/26, which are now available to read.

The Annual Report brings together another year of work across Equality Action, from the hundreds of people accessing our advice and casework to the continued development of EmpowHER and NHS Talking Therapies, our community outreach, events, partnerships and Loughborough Mela.

It also shares some of the individual stories behind the figures, showing what this support can mean for the people and communities we work with, while our Accounts provide an overview of our finances for the year.

Looking Ahead

Our AGM is as much about looking forward as reflecting on the year that has passed. We remain committed to responding to local needs, strengthening our partnerships and ensuring people across our community can access the advice, opportunities and support they need.

Thank you to Fearon Hall for hosting us, and to our staff, trustees, volunteers, members, funders, partners and everyone who attended the AGM.
